Club Puebla is grappling with serious financial uncertainty after a judge ordered the freezing of up to 223.6 million pesos from the accounts and assets of its operating company. The precautionary measure, issued by the First Specialized Court in Civil Matters and Domain Forfeiture of Puebla, targets Operadora de Escenarios Deportivos S.A. De C.V., the entity that holds the club's federative rights in Liga MX.

Magistrate Rogelio Pérez Sánchez authorized the seizure of bank accounts, investments, and other financial assets in case file 611/2026. "The judicial decision corresponded to a precautionary measure, so its purpose is to guarantee resources and assets during the development of the litigation," it was stated.

Brand dispute

The conflict stems from a separate case filed in February under file number 0059/2026. Henaine is claiming rights to the brands 'La Franja Puebla Futbol', 'Camoteros del Puebla', and 'Ponte la de la Franja', which are historically associated with the club. The operating company is linked to TV Azteca. "The agreement does not represent a definitive resolution on the merits of the controversy nor does it prove the existence of the claimed amount in the company's accounts," was clarified regarding the measure. The judge also ordered the National Banking and Securities Commission to communicate the ruling to institutions in the Mexican financial system.

Sporting context

The news arrives during a challenging period for the team on the pitch. Puebla sits ninth in the Apertura 2026 general table with 14 points, from four wins, two draws, and four losses. Their recent form is patchy, with just one win in their last five matches (LDLWL), including a 1-0 loss to Tigres UANL on September 27. The team has scored 11 goals and conceded 12 this season.

The next fixture is against León at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc on October 10, corresponding to Matchday 11. León are fifth in the standings, presenting an additional challenge. The full schedule for the final phase of the tournament is available on our fixtures page. The financial situation could impact planning for the next transfer window.
