Club Puebla has moved to deny financial problems and defend its position in a legal dispute with former owner Ricardo Henaine Mezher. The Liga MX institution confirmed it continues to work on its legal defense after a court order froze accounts and assets of Operadora de Escenarios Deportivos for up to 223.6 million pesos.
The precautionary measure is part of civil case 611/2026, but the club clarified it has not been officially notified of the mentioned judicial orders. Puebla rejected Henaine's statements and questioned actions that, according to them, the former owner has taken for years to obtain benefits related to rights that do not belong to him. The institution went as far as characterizing some of those actions as reaching "even to levels of extortion."
The trademark dispute
The conflict includes industrial property rights, specifically the trademark "La Franja Puebla Futbol," which is registered in Ricardo Henaine's name. Puebla states the alleged illicit use of this trademark is part of the current litigation. In its defense, the club highlighted it has obtained 19 favorable resolutions before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), which declared the expiration and nullity of trademark registrations held by Henaine.
Puebla insisted the precautionary measure is not a definitive ruling on the merits of the litigation and that the judicial process will continue as arguments and evidence are analyzed. "We will continue working seriously, focused on the present and on continuing to build the future on and off the field," the club said in a statement.
Normal operations and sporting context
Despite the legal situation, the club assured that its sporting, administrative, and financial operations continue completely normally. This objective is set after a recent inconsistent run of results, with a record of LDLWL in its last five matches. The next test will be a tough home match against fifth-placed Leon on October 10. The club will maintain its position in the legal process and continue defending its interests with all available resources, while the team prepares for the sporting challenges ahead.
